June is the month I gave birth in 1980. Adopted, I believe my daughter is also a mother This poem is for her.
beloved
dearest, most beloved
once infant, then child, now woman
i heard you calling as you gave birth
seven generations into the future
seven generations into the past
mother, you’ve made me grandmother
your name is unknown
you remain unseen since five days old
my eyes seeing you, my heart marking you
twelfth of june 1980, not a day gone by
without thought of you, without loving you
without missing you
my first and last, there is no other
your birthday celebrated
tears flow unbroken
unknown to you, maybe still even now
how much it cost, to give you away
for you are loved, I pray you be happy
